A podcast dedicated to the AMC TV series The Walking Dead

Episode #6: October it is!

It’s only been 2 weeks since the last episode of The Talking Dead, but with the shooting date fast approaching there has been a surge in Walking Dead news. In the last few days we’ve got some official casting, some rumoured casting, and a big announcement from AMC. Jason and I sit down to run through the following items:

- Robert Kirkman delivers the keynote speech at the ComicsPRO annual members meeting.

- Rumor: Jonny Lee Miller is the front runner to play Rick Grimes.

- Jon Bernthal has been cast as Rick Grimes’ partner Shane.

- AMC officially orders 6 episodes of the show, and plans to air it in October during FearFest.

Jon Bernthal cast as Shane

News came out a few days ago that Jon Bernthal has been cast as Shane in The Walking Dead. You may know Bernthal from the ABC series Eastwick, or the Spielberg/Hanks co production The Pacific that’s currently running on HBO. Bernthal has also graced the big screen in Night at the Museum 2, and The Ghost Writer. In AMC’s The Walking Dead, Jon has been cast as Shane, partner and friend to the main character Rick Grimes.

Tune in to the next episode of The Talking Dead to hear our thoughts on this casting news, as well as some other Walking Dead developments. That episode should be coming out this week.

Episode #5: Fantasy Casting

Hey everybody,

I’m happy to bring you episode 5 of The Talking Dead. On this episode Jason, Dave and I discuss a casting rumour I came across on Twitter, plus do some fantasy casting of our own (mostly Dave’s actually). Open up a window to Renerd.com where you can find Dave’s full casting post and follow along as you listen! What could be more fun than that?

Some highlights include: Kate Kelton (@katekelton) as Lori Grimes, Michael Jai White as Tyreese, and Emma Caulfield (@emmacaulfield) as Carol. Tune in to hear the rest of our list, including who we think should play the lead role of Rick Grimes.

I am also happy to announce that talkingdeadpodcast@gmail.com is finally up and running. Please contact us there if you’d like to, or of course feel free to leave comments on this site. We’d love to hear your input on who you think should play the major roles.
