We know the farm will be overrun because in one of the previews is shows zombies spilling out of a second floor window onto a lower roof. We know tension between Shane and Rick will mount because we saw clips of them fighting. We know Shane's car is totaled because we see it flipping and rolling..we Shane with a bloody mouth, running from zombies. We see Carl being attacked by a zombie. We see Carl pointing his pistol at something. We also see them back in a city type scape because Rick says, "To Hell with the noise* and point his weapon, moving forward. Lots of good clips online and on tv right now. Definitely a lot more action to come.

Hustla could be euphamism for Hustler. Here in the states somtimes people that want to sound "gangster" will often take words ending with "er" and change it to one ending with an "ah" sound. For example... "Gangster"..."Gangstah." Remember, T-Dog's line in an earlier episode calling another character out for shooting his pistol sideways. He used the word "Gangster" in describe it.

Just a brief comment on something that has come into play on each of these podcasts. Every time I listen, I hear occasional little thuds that could either be a foot hitting a desk or a hand bumping the desk... so, with my headphones on, I keep glancing around the room because it literally sounds like someone is either at my bedroom door or in the room with me... creepy for this kind of podcast. But the sound is so subtle, that's what makes it so real.

Hey there, maybe somebody has mentioned this already - but lots of "regular" handguns have ~18-round clips without modification. 9mm Glocks (and their many clones) used to be standard with 17-round (and even 19-round) clips from the manufacturer, before the US Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 2007 (which limited capacity to 10). They don't stick out of the bottom. It used to be legal to get 33-round mags, which did stick out of the bottom. You can actually still legally buy the 17/19-round mags (I believe) on the secondary market.

I seem to recall Shane using a Glock or Glock-like pistol, which are favorites in the law enforcement community. Against real humans, cops use 10mm, or .40 or .45 caliber; which are larger rounds and the magazines hold fewer. I could see hothead, macho Shane preferring a .45 ACP. Cops don't tend to fire many rounds when they do, and need body-shot stopping power over raw capacity.

In the zombie apocalypse however, magazine capacity would be king! Since you need a precision headshot to stop them anyway - already difficult with a handgun - then a 9mm with hollow-point rounds would probably be preferred, just because you can cram alot more of them in a magazine and are much lighter per-round.

(Although, I once did have to put down a domestic sheep [in wilderness], and even with hollow points, it took multiple shots with a 9mm at point blank range, right in the forebrain, to end it's suffering. [BTW this was perfectly legal, ethical, moral, and the right humane thing to do under the particular circumstance.])

And about the firearm training for kids: I have two young girls (4 and 6) who are about to receive similar training, about what to do if they ever come across a firearm - e.g., assume it's loaded, chambered, cocked, and safety off. My guns aren't even in the same house, are disassembled, and locked in a safe. BUT: Even in liberal San Francisco Bay Area, in uber-expensive Marin County, such a high % of Americans own firearms that we can just never know in whose house they will stumble upon one. My father, being from an even more gun-crazy generation (and raised in Texas), has several assault rifles, shotguns, hunting rifles, and pistols - with few of them put away very well. (Including a loaded, sawed-off pistol-grip shotgun under the bed...one reason my girls don't go there.)

Many of my family-oriented, educated, professional, upper-middle-class friends from Texas have numerous firearms - some with laser sights, night scopes, bayonets, etc. (Some combinations are regulated at least.) Most of them handle them responsibly (e.g. locked in huge safes), but not all. Many of them are licensed for concealed carry - and do so regularly. BTW, none of them hunt. (While I personally don't agree with their decisions to carry, I do actually understand and grudgingly agree somewhat with their reasons: to exercise their rights lest they be taken away, and as at least token balance to an increasingly militaristic police state. Either way, I know of no one in the San Francisco Bay Area that carries - zero - legally or otherwise. I actually went through all the training and paperwork for concealed handgun carry in Texas, but an ancient and erroneous business sales tax issue stalled it. I didn't want it bad enough to go through 6 more months of paperwork for it, nor do I believe I would have actually exercised it.)

I personally believe pistols are completely useless for self-defense - too inaccurate at distance and hand-to-hand skills are more effective for close-quarters, even against a gun-wielding opponent. (My concealed carry training made that viscerally clear in some memorable, physical staged demonstrations.) But in a zombie apocalypse, you'd be an idiot not to carry one! That said, my weapon of choice would be a 12-gauge shotgun. Maybe with a slightly shorter barrel and a pistol grip. (In reality, I'd give real consideration to carrying three: a 9mm handgun [essential for close-quarter zombie emergencies], a shotgun as a primary weapon, and a non-carbine [regular barrel length] assault rifle with a scope, for taking out at range and general versatility. (But if you've never held a loaded assault rifle, you'd be surprised at how freakin' HEAVY they are. You'd have to sacrifice other important gear and water to carry one, esp. as a third weapon. Therefore, a group "squad" arrangement would be important - some with just pistols, ammo, water, and gear, some with shotguns and a little less gear, and others with assault rifles and even less gear.)

In the states, NO training is required to own firearms, even handguns - unless you apply for a concealed carry license (which depending on the state any one can do and no reason is needed). In fact, I can't think of a single person or family, across the country, that I KNOW for a fact does not own at least one firearm. That doesn't mean they all do, but it's likely most of them do. (I suppose there are useful statistics on that much more reliable than my own musings.)

But back to kids: This is a nation obsessed with guns. Georgia even more so. Not knowing what to do with a gun, should a child stumble across one, could - and odds are would - be fatal to a child! (Granted I wouldn't think to teach a child how to shoot one until, say, 12 or so. But my 6 yo has the logic, dexterity, and reasoning skills to properly handle (or more importantly to not handle), say, a handgun discovered under someone's pillow. (Yes, gun-crazy Americans do that all the time.)

Oh one more thing: You guys talked about Shane probably being really fast at changing clips. Changing clips fast seems to be an obsession with many pistol fans, and impresses people at shooting ranges. But the reality is, that ammo clips don't grow on trees. Especially in a resource-limited zombie apocalypse, nobody is going to be just popping empty clips out onto the street, like they do in shoot-em-up movies. They will VERY CAREFULLY store the empty ones somewhere, before placing a loaded replacement in (assuming they have the focus and fine-motor skill to do so while adrenaline is pumping). Losing an empty pistol clip would get you killed sometime later! (Not to mention, just letting your empty brass go to waste on the ground probably wouldn't be realistic in a real zombie apocalypse either - it would be worth risking your life to recover your spent casings. Particularly since ammo will be the currency post-apocalypse. But that would be boring to watch.)

Even though I don't consider myself a gun-nut, I am not immune to the culture I'm embedded in. To illustrate how pervasive guns are here: long ago in my younger, more childless, and more irresponsible days, I once left a loaded handgun in a corporate apartment nightstand, after vacating it. Just totally forgot it was ever even there. No biggy, the cleaning staff just gave it to someone who said they knew me, who then handed it to me in the parking lot as if it were just a cell phone or something and people lose pistols all the time. (At least they handled it as if it were the loaded pistol it was.)

Anyway, I recently discovered your podcast and really like it. Thanks!

BTW, even though I'm not a gun nut (at least relative to, say, the average Texan), I was a bird and game hunter as a kid, have fired just about every kind of weapon including shotguns, hunting rifles, assault rifles, and pistols (including a .45 magnum which is probably what Rick's hand-cannon revolver is), and would love to help if you ever have any gun-related questions or conundrums.

(Not to mention, just letting your empty brass go to waste on the ground probably wouldn’t be realistic in a real zombie apocalypse either – it would be worth risking your life to recover your spent casings. Particularly since ammo will be the currency post-apocalypse. But that would be boring to watch.)

Even though I don’t consider myself a gun-nut, I am not immune to the culture I’m embedded in.

Thanks!

BTW, even though I’m not a gun nut (at least relative to, say, the average Texan), I was a bird and game hunter as a kid, have fired just about every kind of weapon including shotguns, hunting rifles, assault rifles, and pistols (including a .45 magnum which is probably what Rick’s hand-cannon revolver is), and would love to help if you ever have any gun-related questions or conundrums.

-Jim

I noticed in the preview for Nebraska that Carol is literally glaring at the string of Walker ears outside Daryl's tent. Is she glaring at the ears in the sense that they killed her daughter or is she staring at them from the point of view that her daughter was one and maybe she resents Daryl for stringing up their ears? The string of ears is going to play some part. I don't blieve it's just a cast off part of Daryl's character.

Holy Crap - Did you see that.... When Shane takes down the second to last Walker (Hershe's step son) the bullet passes through his head and kills the last zombie behind it. Awesome shot.

Another couple quickies. Take a look at the symbolism in the rainbow pattern on Sophia's shirt...how the beginning of the rainbow is perfect cemetrical and at the end of the rainbow, it's melting away like blood from a wound. Also, the corpse that Daryl finds in the tent... where they thought Sophia might be in it... He shot himself, but look at the button on his jacket, "No Excuse for Domestic Violence." Lot of visual symbolism in these episodes.

After watching the Barn scene over 20 times on YouTube I finally noticed something that I'd been missing. Just as Rick is stepping past Shane in his approach of Sophia, Shane starts to raise his weapon. It's only when he notices Rick passing him that he stops. It's very quick and barely noticeable. But in that moment, Shane is not only giving that moment to Rick but he coud argueable be giving Rick the leadership in that moment. Of course he could also be looking at it like this is Rick's mess and therefore his responsibility to clean up. But Shane is clearly affected by Sophia and no less so than any of the other characters in the scene. This will definitely increase Shane's resolve in taking the leadership of the group from Rick, by force if necessary.

She was bitten. That's very clear on her shoulder with the blood having soaked the back of her shirt. They mentioned on the talking dead that a walker came up behind her and bit her on the shoulder. So, maybe she backed up agaisnt a tree where a lurker was standing, similar to what happened to Lori.

You have to admit though that there are definitely a lot of similarities between them. I loved Lost too and it's safe to say that I love this show a lot more (I never went on any Lost websites to talk about it) but I see why comparisons between the shows are there. Jack and Rick. Deryl and Sawyer. Hurley and Glen as comedic relief. The monster and the others vs the zombies and the people who change because of them. Survival is also one of the key elements of both stories. :)

woah! I could see your point with the sophia issue.maybe the walkers are like animals. the strongest get to eat the chickens while the weak walkers are pushed to the corners.but then again patricia was married to ottis.im assuming he would've told her something about the little girl walker he found.

@MikeInTheBox et al. I tend to agree, let it be what it is. The writers and team developing the whole X-Men filmography have the same thing going for them. Not quite the same universe, there are similarities, and stark identical characters, of course, but for the most part, it is its own thing. I personally don't follow TWDGN at all, so I couldn't say one way or the other. I just follow the TV show, and I am quite pleased with the type story lines that are developing.

(Spoilers for graphic novels)

Bishop, maybe I am wrong, but I think you are working from the assumption that the bite does not turn you, it kills you. In the GN everyone is "infected" even if they die from non-walker causes, they will come back as a walker.

The tv show has yet to make the case for this. So far, only those associated with (bitten by) the walkers become walkers themselves.

I think that the guys are right in that the finale is the moment that we the viewers must let go of the GN and let the show be its own universe. Sure there are settings, characters, and confrontations from the GN that I would love to see happen. But I am excited to see what else the writing team can imagine for us.

I think Shane and Andrea were the only ones pulling off head shots...well Daryl too though I'm not sure just how efficient he is with a shotgun vs his nifty crossbow. But Glen and T-Dog probably aren't the best at pulling off left4dead head shots like it's nothing yet. And maybe Shane was purposefully getting body shots because a part of him, a very insane part of him, enjoyed seeing them writhe around. He enjoyed being powerful like that. That's just my guess though.
As for whether or not Patricia saw Sofia in the barn, maybe she did. It's possible Sofia was just sitting in a corner away from the rest of the zombies. That's probably the case since she came out of the barn last. She could've been under a rafter or behind a loft of hey or something. *shrug*

Bishop: are you saying she just died and Otis threw her in the bar? If so, that is just brutal of Otis!

I like tdl_auburn explanation of what happened and the timeline. I think it is reasonable, unfortunately, I don't think we'll find out what happened =(

Hey guys just wanted to congratulate you on your awesome podcast.also I wanted to bring up two gripes about the mid season finale,(witch is sad cause I really love this show). 1 why were there body shots with the barn walkers?. shane clearly pointed out that it doesn't do anything to them when he shot lou,( female walker held by herschel). And 2 was it posible that maybe Patricia saw sophia when she fed the walkers chickens?i hope kirkman doesnt "wing it" as he confirmed he does for the comics on amc's the talking dead.i dont think it would work out for the tv series.thanks for your time.

Okay, I was just re-watching "Pretty much dead already" and noticed at the end, when Rick shot Sofia, she fell on her side BUT THEN in the promo for the next half of the season it starts of with Rick looking down at Sofia's body just after he shot her and she's lying face first in the dirt right in front of him. I think if a random dude like me noticed this, the creators of the show should've noticed it too but then didn't and that makes me sad...Love the show. This was probably my favorite episode. Can't wait for more. bla bla bla. rant ran rant.

Hey guys... here's a talking point that is all over the net right now. Viewers are hungry to know what exactly happened to Sophia and how she ended up in the barn. Number one, we know from previews and interviews that Otis was the one collecting Walkers and storing them in the barn. Clearly, because the family didn't know Sophia was in the barn, Otis didn't always share who he'd found and put in there. Number two, because Otis and Shane went into town the afternoon after Sophia went missing...obviously something happened to her either the first night or early the next day before Otis went hunting and shot Carl. Number three, If she spent the night in the abandoned house where Daryl found the closet with bedding and then later her doll is found in the river... chances are she was attacked at the river where she dropped her doll... There was no blood in the house or in the bedding... so she spent the night without incident and must have been attacked the next day, while trying to follow the river (in the wrong direction) back to the highway. I can easily picture her running from a Walker and tripping in the river. At that point the doll could have drifted away and as she is reaching for it, the Walker could come down on her from behind. But I have a few questions. She was only bitten…nothing really devoured. So what stopped the Walker that bit her from holding onto her and taking more bites? It looks like it took more than one bite out of her neck and shoulder…it’s a huge wound…but that hardly would have filled a Walker. Could Otis have interrupted the attack, maybe too late? There was no mud caked on Sophia’s ankles and legs so I doubt she was caught in the swamp like the Walkers were that Hershel and Rick pulled out. It would be interested to see this scene as a flashback but since it didn’t involve any of the living characters it would serve no purpose to the story other than to satisfy the curiosity of viewers. I’m betting they never explain what happened to Sophia and leave it as something unexplainable. So far, everything has been told through the perspective of the living.

Okay, I'm going to inject my 2 cents on the Rick to Shane response on the whole Rick Hershel or Rick pregnancy issue. I think Rick said "Thank you" but I'm not so sure it wasn't double meaning; thank you for the congratulations, or thank you for Shane's cooperation on the whole making the barn full of walkers right issue.

**MID SEASON FINALE SPOILERS** The mid season finale proved that you can't survive watching this show with the security of knowing what happens in the Comic. This was one of the most heart breaking episodes of any series I have ever seen. To imagine myself in Carol's place if that had been my son shuffling out of that barn... I lost it. I wasn't expecting Sophia. I was expecting that final Walker to be Hershel's wife. I forget which one of you predicted Sophia was in the barn... curse you to Walker Hell. Not really, but my God... where can there be any hope in a world that shows no mercy? In nature, the weakest don't survive. What separates human's from animals is that we have communities based on morality. Without community and without morality the humans in this story are no more than animals. The weakest will not survive. And strongest will fight each other to the death.

Hi guys,
Thanks for reading my comment in your last Episode :-)

I had two Holy Crap! Did you see that!? moments too in the last episode. So the first was Andreas “reach & grab” in the Hyundai.
I did so not expect her to be that straight forward about it; I mean she really was like one of those claw game machines (I think that is how one of the guys in the amc after show described it).
I couldn’t stop thinking about how awkward this scene must have been to shoot.
But maybe it’s just me and they were all professional about it and it was just another day in the office for them – who knows.

Another Holy Crap! Did you see that!? moment for me was the confrontation between Shane and Dales, or rather Shane’s response were you could truly see the crazy in his eyes. Great acting!
Dale sure has some guts to confront him like that, or maybe he really didn’t think that one through.
I’m convinced that Dale is going to do something stupid, forcing Shane to react to that…
Anyhow, I’m looking forward to a nice showdown in the next episode, because I have a feeling that this was not the end of the conversation for the both of them.

PS: Because you were wondering; I am from Vienna, Austria.
So yeah, you Canadian boys even have fans in good old Europe ;-)

I was thinking the same thing here.
Imho the walker could have easily gotten in, as the door was not locked and we saw Maggie kind of just pushing it open the first time they go there. So I think he could have managed to get inside, but why he wanted to do that is a whole different story.
Maybe it’s like with the RV Inspector-Walker from the first episode, except this one being a Pharmacist of course ;-)

**Spoilers** From what I've read online about the comic series, Shane doesn't even make it to Hershel's farm before he is offed. Shane may be expanded to take the place of Tyreese. I can easily see Shane doing many of the things Tyreese did. That would also give him more time on the show and include him in the prison scenes.

As for the zombie in the drug store...remember, they can open doors. Morgan's zombie wife turned the door knob on the front door of the house they were staying in. So it is possible it could have gotten in since the last time they were there.

I fully agree with caller Dan. In the US with all of the misinformation going around about birth control pills vs. abortion pills, especially since unfortunately it is a highly politicized issue in the US, the writer for this episode was very irresponsible. Plan B/The Morning After Pill is very different from RU-486, which is the "abortion pill" and can be used up to 63 days (9 weeks). Also you asked about the sperm hanging out and having lunch. The egg is typically fertilized in the fallopian tube. From there it takes from several days to about a week to travel down into the uterus and implant itself. As Dan said, the MAP prevents that implantation from happening. By the time Lori had enough hormone to register a positive on the pregnancy test, it was weeks too late for the MAP to be effective. Lori needs to learn to read labels on packages before she starts gobbling pills.

Hi guys, love the podcast.

Re: Jenner's big, fat secret - It wouldn't have made sense if the secret was Lori was pregnant because why would he tell Rick and not Lori? As a female viewer that would have been profoundly offensive. Even though Lori appears to have never gotten decent sex-ed advice, she's still the one who should have been told first.

I agree that what Jenner whispered to Rick is that everyone is infected.

My hypothesis: The actual zombie vicus is aerosolized and everyone is already a carrier and when a person dies it activates the zombie virus. The zombies are driven to bite because that transmits a fever that kills the victim thus creating more active carriers more quickly.

Think about it too do you want to mess with that style arrowhead head? No, you want to walk right up and pull it out quick. You don't want to sit there and cut out an arrow head or unscrew it just takes to much time retrieve them. Save razor arrow heads for animal hunting.

The idea of Michonne finding and returning Sophia is a wonderful one. I don't think it will happen, but it would be a neat direction to go in. I think Glenn is going to stay at the farm and everyone else will be leaving.

Let me add that in the Talking Dead commentary at midnight, last night one of the guests commented about the zombie who's head was almost severed, yet it still managed to get back up and attack. The comment was that soon we'll see just a head trying to attack people... looking back at season one, Daryl had shot a deer and the survivors found a walker munching on it. They cut off it's head and indeed...the head was still animated. Daryl thunks it with an arrow and comments that they have to get the brain and comments that they should know that by now. So, attacking head...already happened.

I thought the exact same thing! Yeah, Jenner explains that just the brain stem reactivates so my only thought was it must stay intact? I was confused on this point as well. Thanks for mentioning it!

Daryl's arrow went through the bottom of the frontal lobe of the zombie and out the top. Jenner stated that only the brain stem is reactivated. How does shooting a zombie in the brain anywhere but in the stem, kill it? If he rest of the brain is dead, it seems that only a precise shot to the stem would kill it. Just like aligator hunters have to hit a spot the size of a quarter in the back of the gator's head to penetrate the armor to reach the brain.

Hi guys,
first of all I really love your podcast, keep up the good work.

I was just rewatching the scenes of Sophia’s attack because I wasn’t sure either if she really took the doll, but she did! She is caring it in every single scene of her attack.
Either way, just because Daryl found the doll washed up against this log (or whatever) does imho not mean that she was there, for all we know she could have dropped it somewhere upstream maybe even days ago – in fact she could have even lost it when she left her hideout right after Rick left (even though the doll did not really look like it’s been in the water for long).

I had a lot of “Holy Crap! Did you see that!?” moment on this episode, but because you already spoke about some of them, I would go with the scene of Daryl and Carol. When she leaned in to kiss him on the forehead, he kind of flinched and tried to shield himself as if she was going to hit him. I found that both hilarious and kinda cute, even though it says a lot about his past…and not in a good way…

Can't wait for next weeks episode and of course your next podcast about it!

Hi,

Yes you're right, it's explained like that in the graphic novels. It doesn't matter how you die (of course only if your brain stays intact) you turn, so the bite "just" kills you.

But regarding the "zombie water", I don't think that it would have NO effect. You wouldn’t drink water if it had a dead animal in it. There are a lot of bad bacteria and stuff, which could possibly kill you or at least make you sick for days.

"Family Planning" vs. "Feminine Hygine" Remember, the show takes place in the US, not Canada. :)

If everyone is already infected, zombie water would have no affect, right? Also this would mean that getting bit doesn't make you a zombie directly. Perhaps getting bit causes an infection that kills you, but if already infected a bite would't cause the change. Death would be necessary or the infection you already have to cause the zombification.

Hi guys! Love the podcast and have been listening since the summer. Thanks for the warning about spoilers. I care not so much for the show but for the comic which I plan to read very soon.

my questions is this: I know the show is separate from the comic but do you find the show to be anti-climatic at times because you've read the comic, and have an idea of what's coming? I have this issue at times with Game of Thrones because I have read several books. Love the show too but sometimes I wish I hadn't read the books.
Your thoughts?

Merle didn't say, "Take your friend Rick's hand." He said, "Grab your friend Rick's hand." Either way, I think it would be extremely gutsy of them to turn Daryl into a villain considering the character's popularity. Good show.

I am thinking the same thing about Hershal's family in the barn.It would tie in with the reaction Maggie had when the well walker was killed. The Greene's may not have had, or wanted to kill any walkers (especially their own family). I am not sure if I am making any sense. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

With the show progressing so slowly it will be interesting as Chandler (Carl)and Madison (Sophia) get older. Madison already was noticeably older between seasons 1 and 2. -- Wouldn't Hershel's clothes have fit Shane better? Why make him wear oversized clothes that used to belong to Otis? -- Could Hershel's infected family members be locked up in the barn that he didn't want the other survivors to stay in? Being as strong a Christian as Hershel is, perhaps he ordered the family to lock them in the barn in hopes that God could present them with a cure. -- Why didn't Dwayne tell anyone about the house he found and evidence that someone was hiding out there? -- I don't think Jenner told Rick that Louri was pregnant. While broadcasting to Morgan on the radio Rick almost revealed what Jenner said. Why would he tell Morgan that Lauri was pregnant. It had to be something more critical to everyone. -- I think the reference to the Chupacabra points to Merl, whom we saw in the preview of the next episode.

Hi Lee - I think you're right. I focused on the word "dead", but the legend does include those who disappeared for other reasons. When I re-watched the scene didn't feel so morbid to me.

Thanks for listening!

When talking about the Cherokee rose you mentioned that Daryl said it was a symbol for the children who died. I did not watch it twice but I think he said that it was for the children who were dead and disappeared. I do not think that he believes she is dead, especially when he found the sardine can empty and the bed in the abandoned house. enjoying the show. keep it up.

@Bishop, you think he would have hid the gun somewhere he would have to leave to go get it? My concern with that would be that if they needed to pick up and leave quickly then that would be a gun lost. I like your theory though! =) just playing devil's advocate!

OK.
You guys are driving me mental. The reason why Dale wandered off in the previous episode to go and fetch Andrea's gun, which he HID so she couldn't find it. Which her gave back to her at the end of the episode.

I am going to throw something out there for you guys. You mention Maggie being grossed out about well-zombie and walking away, but the look on her face looked, to me, more upset than disgusted. As if that zombie was someone in one of those photos she was looking at...

Remember the guy who hung himself in the tree had his legs chewed. So, there is evidence that zombies will eat the recently dead. The only reason I can think of for shooting Otis in the leg was for the screaming to attract the zombies. But this would attract even more zombies in the area. Shane obviously wasn't thinking completely rationally...that or the writers weren't.

What the hell happened to this second season?? First and foremost where is the great music at the end of each show??You gotta have solid tunes that set the tone. The conversations between the characters is witless and outdated.OMG they turned it into another sitcom. blah

Okay let me just throw this out there if I can. I am certainly NOT suggesting that this is true, just that this sort of thing is very curious.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned this at all. The following suggests a MAJOR plot point that the comics never touched.

Has NO ONE else noticed that Andrea is throwing up A LOT? I don't think she is sick at all. I think there is another reason why she is throwing up and I think this is DIRECTLY related to what Jenner told Rick and why Rick thinks it doesn't matter right now. Thoughts?

On the subject of Shane shaving his head, I initially thought he might have gotten bit or scratched. I also speculated that Shane shaved his head to indicate a transformation such as embracing the deceitful person he always was (remember he told Lori Rick was dead). I didn't connect the fact that Otis had pulled out some of his hair until you guys discussed it.

Hey, guys, you mentioned the hot shower, but didn't you find it odd that 1) they had hot water at all. 2) that even if they magically had hot water, that they didn't put limitations on showers. 3) they were so cavalier with leaving lights on, like a beacon on the hill for all walkers. 4) there was electricity for lights and the razor to begin with. 5) the sandwiches they fixed were with commercial bread, 6 months after the outbreak.

Just a couple comments. Zombies may be a little smarter than you think. After all, remember Jenny (Morgan's zombie wife) peered at the peek hole in the door and tried to turn the door knob of the house. Also, in the store (season 1 again) one zombie had a big rock he was holding with both hands and using to smash through the glass doors.

Not going to lie, I was looking for 'Talking Dead' on twitter and ran into you guys instead. However I have to admit you two give a much better insight into the show than the AMC aftershow. You've gained a new listener! Keep up the great work guys.

Earlobes--I cannot believe it took you over a whole season to notice his gigantic earlobes! It was the first thing I noticed when I saw his face.

The advertisements you see on websites are not posted by the website's owner, but instead from an agency (such as google's adsense) that leases the space. Google customizes the ads based upon your browsing history. So, it isn't Gerber specifically advertising on The Walking Dead's forums, but the ads appearing because you had recently been looking at Gerber's products.

So no Sophia at the farm it looks like. I wonder if she's gonna just wander out of the forest one day? I think it would be pretty difficult for a 12 year old to survive this long (going on 3 days now?) alone in a forest full of zombies.

Why is it when weapons are of a necessity, The characters come upon the cdc, and other military checkpoints, with a wide variety of M4's, M2 Machineguns, and other military hardware, they ignore them. They should have plans when coming upon a site, to gather items, one being weapons and ammo. Is this something you will be trying to correct in the future episodes? Food water, supplies, weapons, ammo. Security overwatch. Just my 2 cents,
Sincerely
Stephen Backof
Former Marine and US Army Soldier
PS I will gladly come on the show as a new character to add a military trained individual to the cast.

I believe they are also following THAT show with a show about the set design on The Walking Dead, where they go in to great detail about what it takes to put each episode together and introduce us to all those behind the scenes people that help make this show so great.

They are going to call it The Caulking Dead.

The NDA you have to sign is ridiculous the NDA has an NDA itself so your technically not allowed to even discuss the document lol.
I posted on R&L's that I had screened it in Toronto and confirmed a small detail and my god not even 12 hours later I was warned. Can't go into the breach process but it's substantial reprimands if found violating it,so I shall not be discussing it anymore lmao.

Hey Ryan S. - it took me shamefully long to approve this comment... I saw it, and then forgot it was there. Sorry about that.

Anyway, you are probably right, we should have watched The Mist and/or Silent Hill. Our choices from Laurie Holdon's back catalogue were poor to put it nicely. I'm thinking we might have to re-do her at some point down the line.

Thanks for listening!

AMC is screwed now,so many people are already calling for a boycott of the season premiere.

I believe season 2 will be ok but the absolute ineptness of the Executives and how they treated Frank has forced loyal viewers to watch S2 through a lens that will leave most people finding issue with mundane things that would of been otherwise happily over looked.

I also think the actors performance is going to suffer gravely, one day their saying how much they love going to work 3 days later I am sure that view changed.
I have no doubt that they are seriously thinking twice about renewing for a Season 3.

That is Carl being carried to the farm, what I find interesting is there appears to be three scenes that show the vatos compound and in the last scene it appears to show Rick walking out of a now empty vatos compound.
Even weirder still the opening sequence of Shane running shows him leaving a gated area whether it's the estates or a graveyard idk.
Another odd thing is Rick recalls in black and white the suited zombie that appeared to have recollection of him.
@ 45 secs in I would have to say thats the prison.
I think since their in the city they make a pit stop to offer the Vatos help in relocating with them only to find it overrun @ 3:46 sure looks like the Vatos compound, also another when Rick says "to hell with the noise" im 99.9% sure that's the Vatos compound
Whats with Rick hiding under things LOL.
The girl in the blue shirt under the car I have no idea who that is she is too young to be Herschel's daughter.

I love that Son of Renerd has a walk-on role in this episode. Great to do the podcast with you guys.

So apparently it is only Simcoe Day in Toronto. The rest of the province celebrate different people who may or may not have named a lake.

Hey Tep - sorry it took so long to approve your comment. I got the notice and then totally forgot to go in and click approve.

But thanks for your comments and for listening. Maybe I need to give Cigarette Burns another chance to really appreciate it.

On the whole though I certainly appreciate Norman's work a lot more than I did before. He's one of those actors that I knew of but was really unfamiliar with. I plan to watch Boondock Saints 2 soon...

Thanks for spotlighting Norman Reedus on The Talking Dead. He's a really good actor that is highly underrated. It's always fun to hear someone else's opinion of his movies. I loved "Dark Harbor" and the little twist at the end with the sexy kiss :) Norman definitely fit the rock star bill in the "Law and Order" episode(I was not a big Law and Order fan tho...and am still not). I liked "Cigarette Burns" a lot. When I first saw it on Showtime, I didn't get it, but when I watched the DVD, I finally understood it and even felt sorry for Kirby's character. And of course, there is nothing but love for Boondock Saints!! Thanks again for spotlighting Norman Reedus. He is the best Walking Dead character and I cannot wait to see him in the new season.

I loved “Dark Harbor” and the little twist at the end with the sexy kiss Norman definitely fit the rock star bill in the “Law and Order” episode(I was not a big Law and Order fan tho…and am still not). I liked “Cigarette Burns” a lot. When I first saw it on Showtime, I didn’t get it, but when I watched the DVD, I finally understood it and even felt sorry for Kirby’s character. And of course, there is nothing but love for Boondock Saints!! Thanks again for spotlighting Norman Reedus. He is the best Walking Dead character and I cannot wait to see him in the new season.

I am a new fan of Andrew Lincoln's as of this year. I have most of his work on DVD. I did order most of his work from Amazon.com. He's a brilliant actor and I'm glad that I am a fan of his. I have some of his work posted on my YouTube channel andrewlincolnfan. I also wish that his work was better known here but sadly it's not. I have all of the TV shows he did and even his first appearence on "Drop the Dead Donkey".
I just had to throw in my two cents.
Have a good one,

re: Stan Lee "not in X-Men" cameos, just off the top of my head:

In X-Men 2, Stan was one of the beach-goers (at the hot-dog cart iirc) when the Senator Kinsey(?) emerges from the ocean after his escape from Magneto's base.

I can't think of any others right now, but I'd bet he's in the other 2 (maybe even Wolverine *shrug*)

Hey Lads. Just watching The Walking Dead on Blu Ray and I just finished watching Guts. I had an epiphany. Those that don't want spoilers stop reading now ...

...

...

What if Merle cut his hand off, but was rescued BY THE HELICOPTER ON TOP OF THE ROOF! What if a certain governor picked him up?

Remember the helicopter? Huh? yeah? Thoughts?

August 7th would be perfect and they could easily air the finale on a Monday.

lol the Han Solo rule.

Being pregnant would be so dangerous what if they miscarried.

Merle ain't the Governor.

And the Governor is a pedophile if you take Michonnes word for it.

Merle is military either he will play a key role in season 2 or they will just leave him out completely which will be sad.

Rifling is the grooves in the barrel of a gun to give it the turn.

"Dispersal" is wrong it's 15m casualty radius.

I was posting a reply on TWD forum about HIT and FAE bombs.

high-impulse thermobaric weapons and fuel-air explosives cause I think were all in agreement they were just to darn close like 200ft on a good day all their ear drums would of blown out and Andrea and Dale's organs would of been liquefied.

At the very least all the dead bodies should of come flying at them which would of been really cool to see.

It was an air strike that hit the hospital you can clearly hear the jet and 2-3 secs later was impact, most likely called in by the Marines retreating the building with the civilians.

Checking the chest is actually the proper thing to do as a person in a coma can have blood pressures so low as to not have a discernible pulse.

In the teaser of wildfire it showed F 34 CJ TS-19 in Vye's playback. Also shown is rate of Necrosepsis whatever it is.

The grenade used was an M-67 fragmentation grenade it's filled with 6.5 ounces of composition B it has a 5m kill radius and a 15m dispersal radius and has been known to have shrapnel land as far as 250m away,it has a four second fuse.

Concussive grenades are long and cylindrical like a flash bang.

And great fricking game vs the Caps Leafs great comeback.

this is definitely just a rumor.

in a recent entertainment weekly interbiew, gale anne hurd, the producer of the walking dead said "It’s completely inaccurate. [In] the writers’ room, there are people that have set up other projects that will be their first priority if their own series is picked up as a pilot or if it’s a series."

Hey Kyle, I was reading an article on Screenrant that talked about the reasoning behind going freelance with the writers which apparently isn't unheard of in the tv industry. Darabont wrote 2 of the scripts, Kirkman wrote one, and one writer wrote another. With Darabont having his scratchers dipped in to four of the scripts that only left two scripts for the writers to actually write.

I am sure that although the writing may initially be inconsistent, that Darabont and the other producers will knead the dough til its all nice and smooth.

I don't think a delay would be in the cards at all.

As far as my suggestion as Merle becoming The Governor, well, I think I would like to rescind that spot of speculation and displace it with DARYL becoming the governor. Take a look at the two side by side. Did you see that look he shot when everyone was talking about family?

Just sayin.

You are both right that there was no psychic dream. It was all about stress, and when something consumes your life, you will dream about it. Happens all the time, whether having just watched a movie (recently had a messed up asylum dream after watching Shutter Island), a TV show (been having zombie dreams on sunday nights), or a life situation. Any one thinking it's a psychic dream is just being silly.

In Shaun of the Dead, they did use zombie. In the back yard, they had the "don't say the Z-word" part. Great movie. Just got girlfriend to watch is before The Walking Dead, which she is also really enjoying, except she hates Shane.

Hey lads,
The writing credit they showed was exclusively that of Robert Kirkman.

I, too, thought it was a wonderful opening sequence. It is moments like this that will help define this show. Wonderful job.

Oh snap, and one more thing re White Meat / Dark Meat.

Rick was referencing the skin colour has become irrelevant as EVERYONE has white meat and dark meat, like a chicken.

Thoughts?

Hey Fellas. Couple things.
A) I believe the head is one of the bloodiest hits. As a good example, you ever cut yourself shaving? It bleeds like a son of a bitch. Imagine an entire headwound.

B) J, I think you may be on the right track. I thought Lori and Shane were amorous well before the C.Z.A. as well and something about Episode two makes it a little more concrete for me.

C) I think we will see the Vatos next episode, just a guess. I think they will storm the camp. Ese.

The way I see the moment he sees the hatch is this.

Rick Grimes is the sort of character that is always thinking. His thoughts are constantly in motion which is what identifies him as a good leader. As soon as he saw the hatch he moved without thinking.

I found nothing awkward about that moment and it made complete sense to me. He likely hadn't noticed it before because he was so focused on the zombies but it was when he rolled over that he saw it.

Today a co-worker of mine mentioned she was watching Mad Men and a promo for The Walking Dead came on. She told me that based on AMC's track record she thinks although typically she wouldn't watch a show like The Walking Dead, she is giving it a full shot just cuz it looks so good.

Encouraging!

Let us hope this is the general mood of joe public going in if not full excitement!

Hi guys. I stand by my statement. I've seen the first episode 4 times now, and the second twice and I do believe it's the best thing I've seen in quite some time.

Second review going up today comparing the first two episodes to the comic...

Great podcast guys. You're very up to date with the constant stream of information coming out. Just thought I'd past along some more.

This article was released today and I think whoever Renard is already retweeted it. Part two is suppose to be out soon: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/45528

Also haven't caught up on the two latest podcasts yet in #10 you mentioned your desire for a Walking Dead app on the iPhone. There is currently a free app for the very first issue and you can buy all of the other ones from the "Comics" app for $1.99 an issue. Issues 72 and 71 are currently the top in app purchases.

Hey guys, just to follow up on the FOX International Channels topic, you can find a list of the associated channels that FIC runs here:

Of course, I can't say which ones will carry The Walking Dead but some appear to be more obvious than others...

Hi Josh,

I've been listening to your show, and thanks for the plug. I figured we wouldn't be the only TWD podcast in town for long so I was happy to mention you guys.

Looking forward to that interview with Linds. I'm sure we'll report on it if he reveals anything new :-)

Hey guys, thanks for the mention on the show. I did the same for you guys on our last podcast, although, it went a bit awry. It's all in good fun though. Glad to have you guys as part of the community. Hopefully you've been getting more hits lately with the increase in TWD news.

Also, be sure to check out our next episode. We're doing an interview with Linds Edwards. Hopefully he'll be able to review something about his character. Although, he said he won't be able to really talk anything story wise.

Hi Joey,

We are continuing with the podcast, and had planned to record one over the holidays but things got a little too busy.

As you may know there has been some big Walking Dead news in the last week so we plan to record one very soon.

Thanks for inquiring, and please stay tuned!

Hey TT.TKO, thanks for stopping by and checking us out.

I also noticed the other day that Amazon has the release date and cover art. I've always been a reader of the hard covers but I think after book 5, I'll get on board with the monthly comic. It's time I stayed up to date.

Since the AMC show is still so far away we're going to roll out this podcast slowly. We're hoping to do episode three in a couple of weeks.

In the mean time, be careful surfing the web drunk... ;-)

Amazon has the release date of the 5th book (hardcover) as January 29th.

Also, I actually did find your podcast by stumbling in a drunken internet stupor.
